The instrument panel went together pretty well also.
The top picture to the left depicts all the foam pieces glued together for
it before glassing. I made extensive use of
masking tape to glue it together. To do this, place the two
pieces to be glued on a flat surface, press them together snugly and put a
piece of tape over the joint. Turn the pieces over and lift at the
joint until they open like a hinge. Put your 5-minute epoxy into the
joint then close the hinge. The excess epoxy will squish out and you
can scrape that off. I often then tape the other side to make a
smooth joint. Pull the tape off when the epoxy is cured and you'll
have a smooth, well-filled joint. |

This picture is of the ribs or electrical
channels. I had a hard time getting the 'glass to stay down on either side of the
ribs/channels so I added some wax paper, some small wood strips and some clamps and this
worked out pretty well. If you make sure the 'glass is tight before you do this you
won't get any bubbles or voids and the wood/wax paper keeps the edges from lifting. |
