Pivot Mounts

  • Step 1 PIVOT MOUNTS

I sent the Cozy Girrls a bunch of money and they made most of the parts I'll need for Chapter 16.  In this shot I've laid out most of the parts making sure I understand what all's here and what's still needed to be made.
CS-109 and CS-118 were made per plans out of 1/4" birch plywood.  But, what mounts on them is different, of course.

As is typical for a part like this, I make up a diagram using AutoCAD then print & spray glue to the plywood.  Given I'm not making up phenolic block bearings, the diagram instead shows the Cozy Girrls 'Control System Bearing Assembly' with their centers matched to the center of where the phenolic bearing would go.

Some folks have moved to the FMN-10 bearing (one step upgrade from the phenolic) but.....  c'mon....   have you seen one of those?  Want that as the pivot point for your aileron control?  I don't think so.  They didn't pass the 'do I want to put this in my airplane' test, to say the least.

Here's the rest of the parts.  I don't know about you guys, but, this is way better than a Lego set or an Erector set for Christmas.  I couldn't stop smiling and fiddling with parts for days!
