I started on the electrical conduits pretty much per
plans with the exception of wanting to vacuum bag the conduit blanks.
Yes, many of you will say this is overkill but I get better parts that way
so bear with me. Here's a photo of the foam, covered with box sealing tape
for release, mounted on a piece of plywood so I'll get nice flanges. |
 |
After I added the two plies of BID, I bagged the entire
assembly. Start up the bump, make sure the vacuum holds and clean up /
go to bed. |
 |
In the morning, remove the part from the mold, strip off
the peel ply and etc. and then trim. Here's a shot of me trimming the
flanges to width. Given this is 2 plies of BID, a nice pair of shears
works just fine. |

Next, the conduits were floxed into the airplane. I
had to make some small cuts in the conduit to get it to bend to fit the
curve on the side of the fuselage, you can see them if you look closely at
the second weight from the left. There's cuts just to the right of
each lump on the ends of that hand weight. No more progress on this step
yet. More pictures and description to come when I resume building on
this chapter / step.
I also don't have progress or pictures posted yet on Chapter 16, Step 6
so the link below will take you to Chapter 18, Step 6. |
